Does OE provide housing?
Ocean's Edge assists our out of area students with a local apartment community to house a limited number of students.  Once students are accepted and enrolled in OE, we will help them with room rentals.

What about meals?
Due to our location, we are fortunate to have access to a coffee bar, restaurant, and a small café/grill all on our school campus. This variety gives OE students many different meal options to fit their taste and budget. Our students will receive a discount at our on-site dining venues. We also provide a break area for students who wish to bring their lunch.

Can I get financial aid?
OE has limited financial aid available which is awarded on the basis of financial and other considerations. Financial Aid is only available to students that have registered and been accepted. We will also help enrolled students raise support in their home church.

Will I be able to work and go to school?
It is possible to work part time and attend OE. We urge our students not to work an excessive amount (more than 10 - 15 Hours per week) as the program is demanding and will require a lot of time in practice and study.

How many hours a week does the school take?
OE students can expect to spend 20-25 hours a week in classes, ensembles and lessons. They need to expect another 15-20 hours weekly in practice, study, and of course, time with the Lord.

Can I take classes without being a full time student?
At this time we do not offer part-time or audit classes. We specifically gear our program to develop the whole student, and want to encourage those that are interested in OE to be a part of the entire experience.

Where do I get to play?
All our students will participate in an ensemble group. We hold separate ensemble auditions once school begins to place students in groups by skill level. Opportunities to play vary by skill level, but will involve leading worship throughout our ministries at Calvary Chapel and our satellite campuses. Additionally, we are always looking to establish working relationships with other Christian ministries and churches where students can gain additional experience.

How do the lessons work?
Our private lessons are geared toward helping students develop their abilities on their primary instruments. During enrollment, each student will be required to pick ONE primary instrument. That being said, there will be other opportunities available, as well. We offer class keyboard (class guitar for keyboard principal students) and class vocals as a part of the OE musicianship experience. Students also have the option of including lessons on a secondary instrument as part of their tuition. Also, don’t forget that you’ll be in a school full of musicians who play other instruments as well…

Will I get college credit? What do I get for my money?
Because OE is not an accredited school, we cannot offer college credit. What you do get however is an experience that no college offers. You will get training that has direct application to music ministry today. You will grow in your faith through our Bible training and mentoring. You will gain experience by doing ministry here and now. When you leave, you’ll know your way around worship ministry because you’ll have done it for a year. Students who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion.  A part of the OE process involves helping our students to develop their resumes, and helping them find places to look for opportunities in worship ministry or continuing their education. We also will keep in contact with our alumni and refer any ministries that call us for musicians to the appropriate alumni.

Do I have to be a High School grad?
Yes. A high school diploma or equivalent is a prerequisite for admission to our school. OE is a post-secondary school, and is an intense, full time program as well.

What is the average age of OE students?
OE is primarily focused on the ‘college/career’ age students or 18-25. We do not limit our students based on age. We do require them to be High School grads, though.
